The Spinal Foundation
The Spinal Foundation has been a registered medical Charity since 1994. It has supported the development of new and much more successful "keyhole" treatment methods for treating chronic and crippling back pain or neck pain and their associated symptoms. It relies heavily on donations and fundraising efforts to finance its unique research into developing a radically different, minimally invasive, approach to spinal diagnosis and surgery.
The Spinal Foundation as a charity was formed specifically to research into and to provide alternatives to conventional treatments. This is because many patients have been told that they are untreatable and relatively few are referred to a specialist. Conventional surgery can be highly invasive needing long hours under general anaesthetic with all the attendant high risks, many days of hospitalisation afterwards and many months of convalescence. There can also be complications caused by the surgery itself. Despite all this it has limited effectiveness for some patients.
